Early detection of disease is critical. One of the most important things we do for our patients at Whole Dental Wellness is diagnose and remove cavities.

Depending on location, even the smallest area of decay may threaten the strength of your entire tooth and cause a lot of potential problems. Lengthy poking and probing sessions have been an acceptable, although uncomfortable, part of routine dental exams for decades. However, such methods of decay detection are only 50-75% successful at finding a problem at early stages. Cavities can hide in the deep grooves in your teeth or inside biting and occlusal surfaces. To make the process more comfortable and comprehensive, we use DIAGNOdent, a revolutionary dental laser that detects cavities in the earliest stages.

How does the DIAGNOdent laser work?

First, oua baseline reading by aiming the laser onto an area on your tooth we know is healthy, shining the laser into all suspect areas.

Next we move to investigate any areas of concern. If any variation from the healthy baseline value is found during your decay detection, the laser quickly and precisely alerts us, illuminating the weakened area of tooth structure. This allows us earlier detection of disease, which means shallower, simpler fillings, preserving more tooth structure. No X-rays are required with DIAGNOdent, so patients do not have to worry about radiation exposure. But if we do feel a dental x-ray is needed, don't worry. We have the highest end 2D and 3D digital x-ray technology, ensuring optimal image quality at the lowest radiation rates available.
