Dr. Whitney Weiner

Founder & CEO

Dr. Weiner’s love of helping patients started at a young age. Her mother is a highly respected double PhD psychologist and professor, and her father built a medical insurance business from scratch. He also reached the base camp of Mt. Everest as he battled multiple sclerosis. These strong role models showed her the importance of family and perseverance, and she uses these lessons daily to improve the lives of others.

She was awarded a full academic scholarship to Colorado College and graduated with honors. Receiving several awards for excellence in research, practice management, oral pathology, and leadership, she was the sole recipient of a scholarship for outstanding achievement in periodontics at Iowa. She had what she describes as “the typical doctor/dentist dilemma” and thought she wanted to be a plastic surgeon.

She worked in the ER the summer between her freshman and sophomore years of college. While she loved the thrill and adrenaline of it, she missed developing relationships with patients. Her grandfather, a dentist, and a role model to Dr. Weiner, suggested she shadow some oral surgeons and periodontists. After her experience, she took a leap of faith and decided to pursue dentistry. Her aptitude and love for surgery made her an excellent periodontist, and her passion for building strong relationships with her patients found a perfect home in the dental field.

Dr. Whitney Weiner treats each patient like family, and she would never dream of a one-size-fits-all approach. With an emphasis on education, open communication, and personalized care, Dr. Weiner empowers her patients to make the right decision for themselves. She believes in being a true specialist and ensuring her patients are always treated by the best of the best.

In 2016, Dr. Weiner was chosen as one of the “Top 25 Women in Dentistry” by Dental Product Report and named the “Most Interesting Person in Dentistry” for February by Curasan.com. In 2017, Incisal Edge named her in their top “40 under 40” young, rising dentists in the country. Always at the forefront of dental technology, she attends multiple regional and national professional meetings each year.

She loves to educate her fellow dentists and has lectured both nationally and internationally on the oral-systemic link (the connection between oral health and overall health), periodontology and implantology, and the importance of being a specialist.

Dr. Weiner was specially selected for membership to DENTSPLY Implants’ PEERS North America, an exclusive group of under 100 key opinion leaders and experts in the field of implant dentistry. She was voted a “Top Dentist” by a group of her peers in Hour Magazine every year since moving to the metro Detroit area. Sharing her insight in the world of implant dentistry, she attends and speaks at regional and national professional meetings. Most importantly, her patients love her and the exceptional results she delivers.

When she isn’t working, she loves spending time with her husband, Eliot, their three young boys, Jake, Max, and Wes, and their rescue Pitbull mix, Mollymook. She loves travel, adventure, and isn’t afraid of danger. With an unforgettable gap year spent in Central America living on $10 a day, a fulfilling winter as a ski instructor, and two years living in Australia with her husband, her passion for life radiates through everything she puts her mind to.

Dr. james tangalos

A Michigan native, Dr. James Tangalos was first inspired to pursue dentistry when his brother underwent upper and lower jaw surgeries to correct his severe Class III underbite. He was fascinated by the mechanics of the skeletal system and the technology used to give his brother a perfect bite.

He completed his education and dental training in both Michigan and Fort Lauderdale, Florida. As a man of faith with a passion for helping others, he went on a university trip to Jamaica to deliver emergency dental care to underserved patients. During his residency year, he developed a special interest in serving patients with special needs who might not be able to access regular dental checkups.

He loves using new techniques and technology to bring cutting-edge solutions to his patients. Creating a comfortable and trusting environment for patients with past fear-filled dental experiences is one of his favorite parts of the job. He is devoted to offering a positive patient-centered experience with mutual trust and understanding. With critical collaboration between doctor and patient, he strives to help patients achieve their smile goals. His favorite procedures are cosmetic crown and bridge treatment, as well as Endodontic therapy.

Dr. Rebecca Schwarcz

A New Jersey native, Dr. Rebecca Schwarcz first fell in love with dentistry as a teenager after she had her braces removed and looked in the mirror for the first time. She still remembers that feeling of seeing her health, happy smile for the first time. She loves helping her patients experience that feeling.

She ensures her patients are comfortable whether in the dental chair or during a consultation. Taking her time to explain each step of the way, she believes patients who understand the treatment options for their dental needs will feel more at ease. She creates treatment plans from a holistic perspective, prioritizing overall dental health and functionality to make sure her patients have the healthiest smiles possible.

With a love for her community, she dedicated a year to serving the dental needs of the underserved in Michigan. She loves helping patients in her community enjoy the foods they love and feel comfortable smiling again. She received the 2017 Delta Dental Community Commitment Award for her commitment to her community.

Not your typical dentist, Dr. Schwarcz has a big sweet tooth. Her latest hobby revolves around exploring the world of bean-to-bar chocolatiers, and she readily admits that those long bike rides she takes often end at an ice cream shop. Patients bracing for a lecture about avoiding sweets won’t get one in her chair (although she might explain how to make sure to brush well after enjoying a post-cycling ice cream treat). Along with a love for sweets, she enjoys exercise, being outdoors, long bike rides with her family, and hikes through the woods.
